About Vedant
Hello dosto, I'm Vedant Kamble, Digital Marketer, Business Consultant, Entrepreneur and Founder of VJK Advertising Agency and VChange Fashion. Along with a Person with Disability having Muscular Dystrophy.
I have been a Digital Marketer for 3 years. In digital marketing, there's a small component of Affiliate Marketing... Let's understand What Is Affiliate Marketing...
AFFILIATE MARKETING:
Affiliate marketing is a marketing arrangement in which affiliates receive a commission for each visit, signup or sale they generate for a merchant. This arrangement allows businesses to outsource part of the sales process. It is a form of performance-based marketing where the commission acts as an incentive for the affiliate; this commission is usually a percentage of the price of the product being sold, but can also be a flat rate per referral.
Affiliate marketing overlaps with network marketing, also known as multi-level marketing (MLM). Multi-level refers to different levels of compensation offered by companies to different tiers of distributors. While MLM schemes are not inherently illegal, they become illegal when income from recruitment fees and similar exceeds the sale of actual goods and services. In these situations, MLM schemes overlap with pyramid schemes and Ponzi schemes.
So here, some companies start affiliate marketing and further convert them into network or multi-level marketing programs.
In the name of the Affiliate program, the company starts with Multi Level Marketing. They start hiring candidates to sell their products, courses, visits, sign-ups or maybe sales.
Let's talk about #Scam
I, myself is Digital Marketer. I have pursued courses from Google, Internshala, and UpGrad and currently pursuing an MBA in Digital Marketing. Affiliate or Network marketing is a marketing or sales job. You would be hired as a sales or marketing person if you are good at it.
Affiliate marketing is bad if;
- you are a customer and they want you to be the seller of the product/service again.
- you are asked to pay for any product or service and hope to be an entrepreneur from it.
Affiliate marketing is good if;
- you need not to pay for it.
- you are hired with an official offer letter, or appointment letter with performance-based or fixed payment.
What precautions you should take while doing any such affiliate program:
• get an appointment letter
• if you are looking to learn, you should confirm how authorised is it, and what will these courses or certificate validation in future.
• don't do it for service, you may opt for product as well least you get to see the product but service is intangible and whatever experience is you'll feel after payment.
Affiliate marketing is not bad, but Multi Level Marketing (MLM) is illegal and it is not the reality. Dr. Vivek Bindra is not the only one doing MLM, there are multiple Youtubers, Businesses caring out this activity. It would be my advised to be aware of such activities and be alert.
I just want to make you aware - don't always go with the flow. Recently, I had an experience with a #JobScam. I received an email saying that I had been shortlisted for a job that I had not applied for. However, I couldn't remember if I had applied or not. The email mentioned that they would send me a welcome kit that included an offer letter with a salary of Rs. 24000. Excitedly, I sent them my address to receive the kit. The courier partner contacted me to receive the package, but they asked for Rs. 3000 from me to receive it. They even mentioned that they couldn't do anything if I received something different from what was promised inside the parcel. That's when I realized it was a scam and contacted the National Career Service (NCS), which was the platform I had received through. They advised me not to take the parcel as the company may be a fraud. It's important to note that these platforms may not always know about the company, so don't assume it is a government-sponsored site and the job may be a good one.
There are a lot of scams going on, so be aware. Don't spend too much time in the enrollment process. I suggest giving it a maximum of 30 days or 2 months for the best job role or earning source. If you're looking for an earning source with marketing skills or affiliate marketing, you can start with the Amazon affiliate program, where there's a fixed commission for their shopping categories. Or, if you're learning and want to start earning, you can go with Internshala training. There, you get a chance to refer and earn, and it's also an affiliate program that doesn't give you unrealistic hope.
